Becoming an Associate

Jesus' method of equipping His first disciples was in calling them to join Him in a praying, worshiping, learning and ministering community. Now through the Holy Spirit, Jesus continues to call us into such communities as the place of equipping and empowerment for following Him in ministry.

The Dunamis Institute will be offering the option of enrolling as an Associate in 2012 to join the unique equipping community that the Holy Spirit has raised up. Why the term “Associate”? In John 15:15 Jesus says that we are no longer “slaves” but “friends.” The Greek φιλος (philos) speaks not merely of friendship, but also of being a companion or associate. So we choose the term “Associates” for membership in this equipping community because we are joining in the shared responsibility with one another and with Jesus Christ for our equipping for service in the Kingdom of God.

Equipping Streams

As part of our development of the role of Dunamis Institute Associates in 2012, we will also be developing Equipping Streams where Associates may choose to focus their course selection. Identifying and taking part in an Equipping Stream will only be available for those who are enrolled as Dunamis Institute Associates.

Within the menu of courses it will be possible to follow a selected Stream. Each of these Streams is a purposeful route, a flow of involvement leading towards one of several identifiable outcomes. These are not required flows, but rather they indicate the kinds of ways that people with specific interests and calling may especially benefit from the training that is available.

It is the Holy Spirit who is the Director of this process of calling and equipping men and women for work in the Kingdom of God to serve as witnesses to Jesus Christ.

A Learning Community

By enrolling in the Dunamis Institute, you become a part of a world-wide community of believers committed to learning how God wants to use us to accomplish His purposes. This fellowship consists of both pastors and lay leaders from the United States, Britain and Ireland, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, China, Taiwan, Nicaraugua, the Dominican Republic, Nigeria, Uganda, and Dubai United Arab Emirates.

DFI Membership

How is the Dunamis Fellowship International (DFI) connected to the Dunamis Institute?

Both are ministries of Presbyterian-Reformed Ministries International. While the Dunamis Institute is primarily focused on equipping, the Dunamis Fellowship International is a membership organization of PRMI focused on mobilizing, equipping and deploying Holy Spirit-empowered witnesses for participation in the worldwide movement of the Holy Spirit that is advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and extending the Kingdom of God.

The DFI connects members from all over the world. In addition to providing equipping through the Dunamis Institute, we provide fellowship, accountability and prayer connections.

The Dunamis Fellowship International (DFI) is a unique combination of a missionary society, a seminary faculty, and an intentional prayer community that enables us to meet the challenges of working for renewal and advancing the Gospel in the world today. These three aspects of the Fellowship are expressed through a variety of programs and ministries.
